Encourage your learner to read and write through matching symbols. Start with matching ‘symbol with word’ next to ‘symbol with word’. Next move onto matching ‘word’ to ‘word. Then move onto matching ‘word’ to ‘symbol with word’. Finally, move on to matching ‘word’ to ‘symbol’ (with no word prompt underneath).

Use as a cut and stick activity or laminate and velcro to create a reusable task.
